Introducing Latin Literature

In order to make our content as interesting as possible, our educators have taken a thematic approach to classical literature. There will be 5 themes that span across prose, verse, plays and speeches.

The course structure for Latin is as follows:

  • Early Roman Literature, Roman Comedy and the Greek Influence

  • Catullus and Roman Romantic Poetry

  • Cicero: The Roman Intellectual in Peace and War

  • Virgil's Aeneid and Roman History

  • Lucan and the Principate: Imperial Literature and the politics of praise

We enjoy the support of the UCL Department of Greek & Latin
